Q: What is the Reprop Comfort enema?

Instead of the rectal tube (Reprop Basic and Plus), the Reprop Comfort enema uses an adapter with two blue ends, which is attached to the extension tube, and onto which the irrigator with olive tip is fitted. The irrigator with olive tip is rounded for easy insertion. The shape of the olive also provides additional support when the irrigator is inserted. The anal sphincter muscle encloses the shaft and prevents the irrigator from slipping out.

Q: What is the purpose of the tube clamp?

The tube clamp is included with both Reprop Basic and Reprop Plus, but it is not strictly necessary. It is mainly intended for use in clinics. This allows the liquid container to be filled with water, the tube clamp to be closed, and then carried to the patient without water leaking out.

Q: What is the advantage of Reprop compared to a “bulb syringe”?

With the so-called bulb syringe, water (approx. 200 ml) is pressed into the rectum using a rubber squeeze ball. The problem is that, due to the lack of a non-return valve, only a single squeeze is possible. When the pressure is released, the liquid flows back and contaminates the container. In addition to this hygienic disadvantage, the effectiveness of bulb syringes is very limited, as they cannot introduce sufficient amounts of liquid into the rectum.

Q: What is Reprop and how does it work?

Reprop is a “water pump.” The plastic bottle, the flexible extension tube with non-return valve, and the rectal tube form one system. A valve mechanism enables simple manual pumping and hygienic performance of the enema. This makes the enema easy and safe – no need to hang up or set up containers that might tip over.
