With the so-called bulb syringe, water (approx. 200 ml) is pressed into the rectum using a rubber squeeze ball.
The problem is that, due to the lack of a non-return valve, only a single squeeze is possible. When the pressure is released, the liquid flows back and contaminates the container.
In addition to this hygienic disadvantage, the effectiveness of bulb syringes is very limited, as they cannot introduce sufficient amounts of liquid into the rectum.
